Description:
A beautiful about very fine banknote from the Commonwealth of Australia. This is the undated 1942 ten shillings currency note. This banknote is orange in color over a multi colored background. It depicts the image of a young King George VI to the right of the front. The back has the same color scheme as the front with the framed image of people forging metal and shaping pottery and titled Manufacturers in a rectangular frame in the center. The front also has the denomination written in red in the center. It has the signatures of H. T. Armitage and S. G. McFarlane on the bottom of the front in black coloring. This particular note has the serial number 499964 displayed twice in black on the front but not on the back. It is series F over 28. The banknote has a water mark depicting captain Cook's head. Please carefully review the scan presented as it is part and parcel of our description.
Date:
1942.
Printer:
Unknown.
Size:
The banknote measures ~5 1/4" by ~3".
Pick Number:
P 25b.
Condition:
I would grade this banknote as an about very fine with all the details being well preserved. The note has several vertical folds and one horizontal fold. It also has general wrinkling some general light soiling with some staining. It also has diagonal creases especially near the corners. It has no pinholes, splits or tears. The corners are slightly rounded but are intact and show creases. The edges are intact and the note is nicely centered. The note still has some of its original crispiness and the colors are still vivid and have not faded appreciable. The note would make a great addition to your collection of Australian banknotes. Please see photo for additional condition information.
